Tracey has been an active member and volunteer with NAMI Ventura County since 2013. She attended Ohio University where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Communications and California Lutheran University where she earned her Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology. She has worn many hats, first in the entertainment business working on such shows as The Academy Awards, The Primetime Emmy Awards, The Kennedy Center Honors, and The Academy of Country Music Awards to name a few. For many years, she was a happy stay at home mom, and then attended graduate school. She also had a stint as a Human Resource Professional during which time she earned her certification. Today, Tracey is a passionate advocate, speaking out against the stigma associated with mental illness that impacts each and every one of us. She wants other family members, especially parents, to know they are not alone in their journey through a mental health diagnosis. To share stories of her family’s recovery, she blogs at www.traceyyokas.com. Tracey lives in Newbury Park with her husband, daughter, and two awesome cats, and is writing her first memoir.
